  • Alex Sierra (ECR, August 2025)

Alex Sierra was born and raised in Grapevine, TX, and enlisted in the Air Force straight out of high school. From a young age, Alex had a strong desire to serve in the military, with the long-term goal of becoming a firefighter after leaving the service. The Air Force not only gave Alex the opportunity to serve the country but also provided a path toward a post-service career. Alex served five years on active duty (2010-2015), including one deployment to Afghanistan.

In 2015, Alex transitioned to the federal fire department, first working at Ft. Polk and later transferring to Ft. Hood in Texas. Unfortunately, in 2020, Alex was medically retired from the fire department due to a progressive neurological disease diagnosis.

The loss of a dream job and dealing with the medical condition left Alex struggling with depression and a loss of purpose. A close friend from the Air Force suggested a change of scenery and encouraged Alex to attend the 2020 Mint 400. Along with some fellow military veterans, they participated in a motorcycle race to raise money for the Gary Sinise Foundation.
